And the 2021 AsiaFest Best Costume Nominees are...

Yes, you guessed it! Both Brian and I were nominated for the Best Costume this year at the 17th Annual AsiaFest "Year of the Ox" Celebration! We lost to two adorable cutie pies, but hey, the nominations were such an honor.

This is the first year that Hmong Book Publishing has attended as a vendor, but it will definitely not be the last. Early last year, I started volunteering at the Asian Professionals of Southwest Florida (APASWFL) as their Graphic Designer. I have been able to give back to an organization that has given my daughter a $500.00 Scholarship for college.

The Asian Professionals Association of SWFL, Inc. is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in 2000 to provide leadership in connecting Asian professionals and the broader community for economic, social, intellectual & cultural enrichment. Through their commitment to professionalism, leadership, fellowship and cultural heritage, they create opportunities for personal and professional growth, business partnerships, educational advancement and community involvement. All the money that they raise at their events go to college scholarship that are awarded to qualified local Senior HS students who exhibit outstanding academic achievement and citizenship in SWFL.

It has been a pleasure to be at AsiaFest to represent the Hmong people at the same time giving Hmong writers a voice. Check out some of the photos from this event below.
